How to Be a Happier Mom with Energy Work
Some people run to find their calm. Some people knit, and others garden. I love gardening, too. But the number one thing that has helped me become a better and happier person, and a calmer, happier mom, is definitely energy work.
What comes to your mind when you think, “energy healer”? Why do you think some people get into it?
In this post, I’ll tell you how energy work has made me a better, calmer, and happier mom and a human being. I believe it was all meant to be, and maybe some of it will speak to you, too!

My Healing Journey
I want to make this section as concise as possible. I want the point to be more about the benefits, not how bad it was. If you want to learn more about me, you can always check out my bio on the website.
I grew up in a household full of strife. There was a lot of fighting between my mom and dad, whose relationship was stressed even further by moving the family to the United States when I was 10.
The fighting was constant, and as long as I can remember. As emotionally absent as my dad was, my mom’s general mood fluctuated between fight-or-flight and depression.
My dad left the family when I was 16.
My mom? Whenever she got mad or we didn’t do as we were told, she told us she would leave us. She told us that we were the cause of her unhappiness, why she couldn’t fully be who she wanted to be, and that if she could leave us, then she’d be free.
Despite all this talk, she never left us. Not for good, anyway.
But as you can imagine, I was not a very happy or self-loving person. It was only in my early 20s that I realized that I was depressed and engaging in various self-destructive behaviors. I started therapy. I also started to meditate.
That’s when I first experienced the “I am” presence of me, the point of perspective and awareness inside the body. Separate from all the negative thoughts and crazy emotions.
Slowly, I started to feel better. I felt like I finally could hold on to something that would lead me somewhere worthwhile.

Who Wants to Be a Mother?
For many years, I did not want to become a mother. When my partner proposed, the first thing I told him was, “You know that I don’t want children, right?”
You see, I did not want to recreate what I had with my mother. Subconsciously, I must have thought that all parent-child relationships looked like what I knew.
But the question kept popping up in my head, and I couldn’t let it go.
Through intense introspection and energy healing, I came to realize that I was meant to be a mom and that it was my path.
I had my first child—a beautiful daughter—at the age of 38. It felt as if someone grabbed the whole of me and threw me into a place I’d never been before, with no tools and no help.

To call it tumultuous would be an understatement.
Just like my mother, I wanted to run. Anything would be easier than this, I had thought.
This is not to say that I was completely blind to the joys of having this beautiful baby with me, her bright light, and the gift. I just felt like I had no room for it. I felt so full of dread and despair.
Energy Work Turns It Around, Again
One saving grace, however, was that I never stopped meditating. I followed the teachings of Dr. Joe Dispenza. I went to his retreats. After experiencing his coherence healing at an event, I signed up to learn Reiki when I got home.
Learning Reiki with my teacher Sierra North, at Muktinath Holistic Center, was life-changing. I released SO much negative energy that I no longer wanted to run away from my family. I felt invigorated and full of new energy, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Then, when my then-5-year-old son experienced a truly life-threatening anaphylaxis from eating should-have-been-safe ice cream at the local shop, I went on to search for something more.
That’s how I found Pranic Healing, which offers a more clinical approach to energy healing and has helped my son get over his asthma (and hopefully his allergies).
Energy work saved my family, motherhood, and sense of self. I know who I am now, and what to do when I am challenged.
How Energy Work Makes Me a Calmer and Happier Mom
Now let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how energy work helped me be a happier mom. But first, what do I mean by “energy work”?
Well, it’s kind of a trick question, because EVERYTHING is energy. Your body has an energetic component. Your relationships, the trees, the rivers, the air, the stories you read, and eeeeeverything else. It’s all energy.
So in truth, you are working with energy ALL the time. When you react emotionally to something, that’s an energetic event. When you choose to smile at a stranger, that’s another energetic event.

But for most of us, we live our lives unconsciously and without intention, according to the programming handed down to us by our parents, ancestors, and society. So our energetic output is unconscious, and we get consequences that match that output.
Tools like mindfulness, meditation, Reiki, and Pranic Healing help us break out of the ingrained programming and consciously influence our experience.
There are many ways to do it. You just have to find what works for you, based on where you are.
Happier Mom Benefits of Energy Work
So here are four major benefits of energy work that can help transform your life, as it did for me.
Direct Healing
Whenever you learn a new energy healing modality, such as Reiki and Pranic Healing, you get healing just by exposure. Learning new concepts and aligning with new knowledge frequencies actually elevate your frequencies.

Then, as you practice the craft of energy healing, by channeling the energy, you receive healing, too.
Every time you meditate or give an energy healing, your energy expands. You heal.
It might be really subtle. You notice that you haven’t had a bad day in a little while. And over time, that baseline for calm and openness to joy becomes the norm.
You are nicer to be around. You are more patient and prone to laughter.

Energetic Self-Care Tools
Meditation, Reiki, and Pranic Healing give you SO many self-care tools to elevate and protect your energy.
For example, if something upsetting happens or creates heavy emotions, you have many tools to regain your center.
You can meditate to let go. If you need extra help, you can meditate with Reiki symbols. You can clean your energy with Reiki or Pranic Healing, or do a Pranic Psychotherapy session on yourself to help turn it around.
Also importantly, energy work teaches you how to proactively protect your field from old, negative energies or other people’s emotions. Salt showers, cutting cords, and purification through smoke.
The result? A calmer nervous system, no matter what happens in life. More energy left for you to live your life, create, and heal your body.

Tools to Help Others
Maybe this one is self-explanatory, but still worth exploring.
With energy healing tools like Reiki and Pranic Healing, you have tools to help family, friends, and others in their time of need.
I used to use Reiki all the time to help my children relax and fall asleep at night. Once, when I was with my son at the hospital emergency room after an anaphylaxis, I used Reiki to help calm a new wave of hives.
With Pranic Healing, I can help treat a variety of physical, emotional, and psychological conditions. I’ve helped patients with cancer, amputations, surgery, psychosis, and more.
At home, I have been healing my son’s body for the asthma and food allergies, as well as the occasional tummy aches or even bug bites.
To say that it is gratifying would be an understatement.

Everyday Connection to Spirituality
This one just might be my favorite. When you consistently practice energy work, you are constantly reminded that the world is much, much more than what meets the eye.
Every time you notice your “reality” bending to match your intention, it is a confirmation that there is a bigger picture behind everything. A Divine plan, if you will.
It is also a reminder that you matter, that you are powerful beyond comprehension, and that what you think, say, and do matter 100%.
As such, energy work continues to surprise and delight me. So far, in addition to my ability to heal, I enjoy increased intuition and faster manifestations (when there is no resistance) as side effects.
I also feel so supported and guided by unseen and loving forces that I never feel alone! Spirit guides are real, and when you do this work consistently, they find ways to let themselves be known to you.
The field is benevolent and intelligent, and you are a part of it. I love knowing that through experience, and letting myself be surprised by it again and again.
