What Is Pranic Healing? Benefits and How it Compares to Reiki
Maybe you’ve heard of Pranic Healing before, maybe not. I can tell you that I had no clue when I first heard about it, which was only a couple of years ago.
Pranic Healing stands out among energy healing modalities in that it comes with detailed protocols on how to heal specific conditions. Imagine helping cancer patients without ever seeing the patient. I’ve seen it done.
So, if you’re dealing with a particular health issue for yourself or a loved one, it may be worth asking the question, “What is Pranic Healing and can it help me?”
In this post, we’ll explore the fundamentals of what Pranic Healing is, its benefits, what a session looks like, and how you can find a healer. We’ll also look at how it compares to Reiki, the most popular energy healing system. But first, let’s start with how Pranic Healing has already helped my life.

A Personal Testimonial
When I first learned about Pranic Healing, it was through my meditation communities. Because I was already a Reiki master, I became curious how it might be similar to, or different from, Reiki.
At that time, I had been sending my son coherence healings based on Dr. Joe Dispenza’s teachings, as well as some Reiki, regularly. The severity of his allergic reactions had improved, but we had also learned that his asthma was getting worse.
I was, and still am, willing to try lots of new things to help my son heal.
The more I researched and learned about Pranic Healing, the more I became fascinated by its fresh approach and apparent effectiveness.
To make a long story short, I am currently learning Pranic Healing to help my son. Two to three times a week, I conduct the allergy and asthma protocol to optimize his energy against these conditions.
Thankfully, he has not had a major allergic reaction in almost two years. He is not completely healed yet. But I continue to learn new levels of Pranic Healing and practice on others within my community.

Pranic Psychotherapy Changes a Life
But the real testimonial is with another. When I took the Basic Pranic Healing class, I had an extended family member who had been suffering from severe depression and mental illness.
For five years, her conditions had only continued to deteriorate. She refused to seek help because she did not believe she was sick. But her life was falling apart. She was even getting arrested by the police for some of her behaviors.
As I learned of Pranic Healing and saw its potential, I got verbal permission from this person to start healing sessions for her. Then, I arranged for an experienced healer who is trained in Pranic Psychotherapy to send her remote healings twice a week.
Nothing changed immediately. But we kept at it. After all, this was one of our last hopes.
After about a month—or about eight sessions—something clicked.
She started to feel better physically. The headaches and physical pains calmed down.

More importantly, her mind was clearer. She no longer heard voices in her head or felt fearful of imagined people who were coming after her.
In total, my family member received Pranic Healing for about five months. Twice a week for the first four and once a week for the last.
As of the date of this post, it has been about 12 months since her first Pranic Healing session. During this time, she has sold her house for a handsome profit, got a great job, and moved to a new home that she diligently renovated.
To say that my entire family is relieved and grateful would be an understatement. I honestly don’t believe that we would be in this place had we not tried Pranic Healing.
Do I have you intrigued? I hope so.
Let’s now dive into what Pranic Healing is and how it works.

What is Pranic Healing?
Prana Meaning
Prana is a Sanskrit word that translates to “life force” or “vital energy.” Different traditions recognize the same concept under various names: Qi in Chinese medicine, Kiin Japanese Reiki, Ruach in Hebrew teachings, and Pneuma in Greek philosophy.
According to Pranic Healing, prana enters the body through three primary sources—air, sunlight, and the Earth—as well as the foods we eat. This is why being outside is so energizing and healing for us, because we have direct access to prana from its primary sources.
When prana flows freely through the body’s energy fields, we experience balance, vitality, and well-being. When that energy flow is disrupted, however, problems arise—just as physical illness can occur when blood circulation is obstructed.
Pranic Healing Explained
Pranic Healing is a holistic, no-touch energy healing system that focuses on cleansing and energizing the body’s energy fields, also known as the aura.
Developed in the 1980s by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, the founder of modern Pranic Healing, it is based on two simple but powerful principles:
1. The body can heal itself. Just as a wound closes naturally, the body has self-repair mechanisms that can be accelerated under the right conditions.
2. Life force (prana) is essential for health. When this vital energy is balanced and strong, the body and mind thrive. When it is depleted or blocked, illness or imbalance can appear.

Unlike other energy practices that rely mostly on the practitioner’s intuition, such as Reiki, Pranic Healing is systematic and structured. Practitioners are trained in specific protocols or instructions for healing.
It is said that Master Choa Kok Sui developed these protocols by clairvoyantly observing countless trials of energy healings.
Pranic Healing protocols cover a wide range of conditions, from headaches to cancer. And because the optimal energetic healing technique for a condition is already established, it saves the healer’s time to get to the root of the problem.
Healers practice Pranic Healing without physical contact, making it highly effective in remote settings.
How Does Pranic Healing Work?
Anyone can learn and practice Pranic Healing’s structured healing process. The key steps include:
- Scanning – The practitioner scans the aura and chakras, or energy centers, to detect blockages, imbalances, or areas of weakness.
- Cleansing – Congested or “dirty” energy is removed from the affected areas, clearing energetic disruptions and the path for healing.
- Energizing – Fresh prana is projected into the body, strengthening and revitalizing the system.
- Stabilizing – The energy is balanced and “sealed” to ensure it integrates effectively.
This dual approach—removing stagnant energy first, then adding fresh prana—is what sets Pranic Healing apart. Just as you wouldn’t pour clean water into a dirty glass without rinsing it out first, the energy body must be cleansed before energizing.

Benefits of Pranic Healing
Pranic Healing is versatile, with benefits that extend across physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual well-being. Many people use it as a complementary practice that enhances health and enriches daily life.
Physical Health
Pranic Healing can accelerate recovery by strengthening the body’s natural repair processes.
People often report relief from headaches, pain, and fatigue, as well as faster healing from injuries and surgeries. It also supports the immune system, making the body more resilient to illness.
Emotional Balance
Emotions leave strong imprints on the energy body. Stress, fear, anger, or grief can create emotional ailments that weigh us down.
By cleansing the aura and chakras, Pranic Healing helps release these energetic burdens, creating space for calmness, peace, and emotional healing.
Mental Health
Energetic imbalances can cloud mental clarity and function. Pranic Healing is also unique in that it offers specific techniques to treat mental and psychological issues. With the help of a highly qualified practitioner, it has been proven to be effective against addictions, phobias, and similar conditions.

Spiritual Growth
Pranic Healing is not just about physical and emotional wellness—it also serves as a spiritual path of inner development.
By working with pranic energy, practitioners often notice heightened intuition, deeper meditation, inner peace, and an expanded sense of connection to their higher self.
You don’t have to learn Pranic Healing to see its spiritual benefits, however. Try Master Choa’s Meditation on Twin Hearts to get a feel for its power and blessings. Just practicing the meditation regularly has been shown to bring healing.
What to Expect in a Pranic Healing Session
A Pranic Healing session is simple, comfortable, and non-invasive. Sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, with more severe problems requiring a longer time. The healing does not involve physical contact.
You’ll usually begin with a brief conversation about your needs—whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. The practitioner then scans your energy body with their hands, identifying blockages or imbalances.

Using specific cleansing and energizing techniques, they help release stagnant energy through your chakras, organs, and systems. They then replenish the affected parts with fresh prana.
You may feel deeply relaxed, lighter, or more energized afterward. Or you may not feel anything differently, until your body catches up with the healing and you begin to see your desired result.
After a session, drinking water and resting are often recommended to help the body integrate the healing. It is also advised that you do not wash your body for 12 hours after a Pranic Healing session. This is to help all that good energy stay and do its work without dissipating with the wash.
How to Find a Pranic Healer
I wish it were as easy as searching for “Pranic Healer near me” online. Pranic Healing is not as big as Reiki just yet. But I know that there are many more qualified healers out there than what it looks like online.
Searching on main websites such as PranicHealingUSA.com (East Coast US) and PranicHealing.com (West Coast US) will not give you many options, especially if you are looking for affordability and/or immediate availability.
So one way to find a healer is to find teachers on the above websites and contact them for their availability or referral. Usually, a community of healers develops around the teachers. And the teachers, if they are not the right match for you or unavailable, will be happy to make referrals.

You can also ask for a “certified” Pranic Healer. Such practitioners have gone through additional training on the techniques and are excellent healers.
Remember that Pranic Healing is just as effective when done remotely. This means that your healer can be located across the continent or just next door.
Personally, I highly recommend the teachers at The Golden Light Pranic Healing and Meditation Center. They studied Pranic Healing with Master Choa himself, have been practicing for more than a decade. They are also amazing and kind people.
You can also find a healer through this directory, or contact Pranic Healing Bucks County for online meditation events, healing sessions, and referrals. If you still have trouble finding a Pranic Healer for your needs, you can also contact me at sol@motherlightsanctuary.com for a referral.
Reiki vs Pranic Healing
At first glance, Reiki and Pranic Healing may look similar: both are energy-based healing systems that work with the body’s life force. But they differ in how they are practiced and the philosophies behind them. Apples and oranges, so to speak.
Reiki treatments can be like getting a special massage treatment for your energy body. It helps you relax deeply, clear blocks, and replenish, including a reset for your nervous system.
Reiki energies that are actually doing the work are considered intelligent and self-directing. They are different frequencies of divine white light, some of the most potent energies available for healing.
Reiki treats the whole person and helps your body naturally start to heal itself, in addition to all the healing that the frequencies are doing at the multi-dimensional/soul level.

Pranic Healing is more prescription-based and precise, and treats the specific condition more than the whole person. Hundreds of protocols guide the practitioner on how best to cleanse, balance, and replenish the energy, down to which energy centers and body parts, with which frequency of light.
Both Reiki and Pranic Healing require multiple sessions to really address a condition. But Pranic Healing stresses the requirement of repeated treatments more, due to the protocols calling for a basic treatment over a length of time.
Both Reiki and Pranic Healing sessions are very relaxing for the recipient. But you’re more likely to find an in-person session availability with Reiki than with Pranic Healing.
Choosing Between the Two
Ultimately, the choice depends on personal preference. Some people feel more drawn to Reiki’s intuitive and spiritual nature. Others appreciate the structured, almost clinical approach of Pranic Healing.
But again, if you have a specific ailment that you’re hoping to heal, Pranic Healing offers a more systemic way to remove the root cause. Pranic Healing also offers a more straightforward way to help with mental illness; Reiki doesn’t offer specific protocols, but it definitely helps even with mental health conditions.
Final Thoughts
So, what is Pranic Healing? It is more than just an alternative therapy—it is a transformative technology that supports the body’s innate ability to heal itself. I decided to learn it because it provided a more concrete path to help heal my son’s allergies.
Whether you’re seeking relief from stress, support in physical ailments, or deeper spiritual awareness, Pranic Healing offers a practical and effective path to greater harmony.
In a world where many are turning to holistic approaches for health and personal growth, learning about and experiencing Pranic Healing can be a powerful step toward reconnecting with your natural ability to thrive.
